The spinning exercise bike is one of the most popular exercise bikes of all, and for incredibly good reason.

What Is Spinning?

Spinning is basically an exercise program which utilizes that of a specially designed stationary bicycle – a spinning exercise bike – and a series of cycling movements that provide the participant with both a physical and mental workout; because you get both a physical and mental workout, this is considered as being especially good, and therefore partially explains why the spinning exercise bike and the activity of spinning altogether is so popular.

Typically, a spinning program will last from a half hour to forty minutes, and the participants involved are often led through a simulated bike riding experience, in that they will have to simulate such things as going up hills, sprinting, and the like, on their spinning exercise bike. This helps not only by increasing the stamina and intensity of the workout overall, but also helps by making sure that the participants do not get bored during the routine.

Another reason that spinning classes are so great and so popular is because they can be done by generally anyone; people of varying ages and fitness levels can participate, and it is considered as being a non-impact sport, in that it will not place any unnecessary or undo stress on the body’s joints. Even if you have had past injuries or such, you will still most likely be able to participate in a spinning class.

Not only does spinning enhance cardiovascular fitness and improve muscle tone, but it also works various different muscle groups, thus providing a truly all over workout for the body. Another greatly beneficial factor is that it is the participants who can determine the intensity of the workout, which thus fosters that of a non-competitive workout; each participant is able to work at their own speed, pace, and intensity, making it easy for both beginners and the more experienced, and allows for both groups to be in the same class.
